Ten years ago, I wrote about my dreams—of one day starting my own fashion label, of modeling my own creations, and of building something that would reflect the creativity that has always been a part of me.
Growing up in Assam, fashion wasn’t a big part of my world. Until high school, I lived in uniforms and simplicity. But creativity? That was always present. I painted, wrote stories, crafted, and stitched clothes for my dolls, often imagining customized outfits that would truly express individuality. I didn’t know then that I was laying the foundation for a career in design.
Moving to Delhi was a turning point. Suddenly, I had to dress myself every day—and I loved it. It became a new canvas for self-expression. I enrolled in a Fashion Designing course, and with a modest monthly allowance, I would scour markets for vintage pieces, fabrics, and dyes—anything I could transform into something meaningful, including unique embroidery designs that caught my eye.
After completing my course, I worked across every aspect of the industry—from retail to merchandising, from styling to production. I soaked in every bit of it with passion, driven by a quiet but constant dream: to create a label of my own that focuses on tailored fashion.
Today, that dream is real. Nyah Clothing is still small, but it’s mine. Built stitch by stitch with love, patience, and purpose. Each piece reflects my journey—handcrafted, personal, and rooted in everything I believed in all those years ago.
